ELLEN A. FREDEL
Ellen Fredel practices primarily in the areas of employee benefits and executive
compensation. Ms. Fredel regularly advises employers and employer associations on ERISA
and related labor law issues and represents a broad range of clients in ERISA litigation.
Ms. Fredel served as Chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the D.C. Bar from 1995-1997. She is also an active member of several organizations, including the D.C. Bar Taskforce on the Americans With Disabilities Act and Managed Care; the ESOP Association, where she serves on the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Subcommittee; and the Subcommittee on Employee Benefits of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association and its Executive Compensation Task Force.
Ms. Fredel is a frequent author and lecturer on employee benefits issues. She has written several articles on discrimination testing for employee benefit plans and is a former adjunct professor of law at the Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Fredel received her B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1976 and her J.D. degree from the University of Chicago in 1979.
Ms. Fredel is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the State of Illinois and before the United States Supreme Court and several appellate and district courts.
